Code of Conduct

Ethics and code of conduct

I. Basic rules for dealing with clients

1. The client's freedom of will remains unaffected. In particular, I do not put any pressure on anyone to start or continue sessions.
It is the client's responsibility and free decision to terminate or continue the collaboration at any time. Clients must not be deceived, manipulated or subtly influenced, e.g. through unsolicited thank you letters, newspaper articles, etc. I, as a hypnotherapist and alternative psychotherapy practitioner (in training), must not bind the client to me through a predetermined number of sessions. This rule is intended to prevent a dependency relationship from developing.
2. I am aware of my responsibility towards the client in everything I say, write, do or fail to do.
3. I never promise healing or relief.
By adhering to this rule, the therapist (me, as a hypnotherapist and alternative practitioner for psychotherapy in training) protects himself above all from legal consequences that arise from the current legal situation in Germany, Austria and most Swiss cantons. Furthermore, the client should not be made dependent on promises of success - or statements that can be interpreted as such.
4. I do not present myself as a “healer.”
The term “healer” fosters the hope of immediate, complete recovery for everyone.
5. I warn my clients not to place their hope in me alone.
My work should not be presented as a substitute for medical treatment.
6. a) The focus of my work is the effort to treat clients with patience, sensitivity and compassion.
6. b) I always behave appropriately and without being intrusive, especially without sexually harassing the client.
7. I inform clients that my work does not replace the work of a doctor. I expressly point this out before the session by handing over a written note that the client has to sign.

At the first contact, at the latest at the first meeting, the client must be informed about the expected course of the sessions, their duration and the fee.

Questions should be answered directly and without excuses. The client will be informed in advance of any unforeseeable changes to the course of the session and will be free to agree or reject them.

II. My relationship with recognized medical professions

1. I strive to have a good relationship with all those working in the health professions and to cooperate with them. I will not denigrate doctors or other medical professions. As far as possible, I strive to exchange ideas with representatives of other medical professions.
2. Medication (including Bach flowers, teas, etc.) is neither recommended, prescribed, nor administered. I would like to point out that medical care still belongs in the hands of the doctor; This means that I do not advise against: visits to the doctor, taking medication, therapy or surgical interventions.

The legislature considers the practice of “medicine” to be “any activity carried out professionally or commercially to diagnose, cure or alleviate illnesses, suffering or physical injuries in people, even if it is carried out in the service of others” (Natural Practitioners Act § 1 (2)) . (According to the interpretation of the courts, it is sufficient that a corresponding impression is created in clients.)

3. I do not use misleading titles and job titles.
A false impression can be created, for example, by wearing typical professional clothing (white coat), using purchased titles or an academic degree without permission.

III. tolerance

In principle, I respect all colleagues who work within these guidelines on a different basis of belief than I do.

IV. Information materials in any form

Information materials in any form primarily serve to inform and/or educate the client.
These do not contain, for example: Promise of success; Denigration of other methods, colleagues or representatives of other medical professions; References to letters of thanks, awards and specializations in certain diseases; other misleading statements.

V. Confidentiality

I treat all personal information entrusted to me by clients as strictly confidential.
There is nothing to prevent data from being passed on in an anonymous form (ie without providing personal details) - for example as part of the exchange of information with colleagues or members of other healthcare professionals.

Legal notice:
The services I offer can positively support medical treatments and therapies. The methods used do not replace or limit the diagnosis or treatment of a doctor. No promises of healing are made and healing in the medical and conventional sense cannot be assumed.
If in doubt, follow the instructions of your treating doctor, another medical professional or pharmacist you trust!
